The 27th Fakuma International Exhibition for plastics processing is a leading meeting platform for the industry. As one of the two leading shows for the sector, it is a key event in the industry calendar. Our marketing team have taken a look at the key themes, innovations and unique elements of the show!

Overview of Fakuma 2021:

Fakuma is uniquely placed to provide attendees with an opportunity to speak with the leading plastics companies, view their broad range of technologies and solutions on the market.

In 2021 the exhibition will highlight not only the current developments in the digital evolution of plastics processing, but also the macro changes impacting the industry.

Core themes at Fakuma 2021:

This year’s show has a new central theme, Digital Transformation & a Circular Economy. With the increased focus on sustainability in manufacturing processes, it is no surprise that Fakuma have led with this theme. With the disruption caused to global supply chains across almost every industry from the global pandemic, the focus on digital transformation and increased efficiencies from adoption of technology such as 3D printing, will be a key topic for industry leadership.

In addition, the continued automation of manufacturing processes and the technologies to support this, will be a key element of the offerings on display and the subsequent conversations on the exhibition floor.

Lastly, attendees can expect to see the evolution of more traditional technologies,  promising increased performance for processing of plastics through a more engineered approach to design for injection molding, developments in simulation technologies for thermoforming and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for blow molding.

Attendees & Exhibitors:

As many as 1900 exhibitors are expected to display their market leading solutions, and with an expected 48,000 trade visitors, these numbers clearly demonstrate the huge value the industry places on attending Fakuma and the resulting business that is derived from the conversations and relationships that are formed and strengthened at the show.

Most of the industry leaders have booked their place at this years shows, and it would be worth checking out the stands for Milacron, Mold Masters, DME and Unipetrol as they always have innovative new solutions to share at major exhibitions.

How can companies stand out at Fakuma?

As previously mentioned, the increased focus on sustainability in manufacturing will be a key theme at the 2021 show and in the future. Exhibitors looking to acquire new business at this year’s show will need to be marketing their green credentials and ethical approach.

With Covid-19 still in the rear-view mirror, it will be interesting to see whether exhibitors will be keen to promote business as usual, or highlight changes in their business practice with a virtual element to their stand for people who are still not able to attend in person.

Summary:

As shows come back online and the plastics industry assesses the fall out from the pandemic and the impact on the sector, the conversations at Fakuma in 2021 will play pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of the recovery. With the continued social discussions on the role of plastics and their usage in our lives, the industry has lots to discuss and we will be excited to see what the exhibitor offerings will be at this years show.
